Review of Viking Jupiter
January
Pros: Staff are accommodating and kind. Ship, in rougher water, was quite stable. Food was good.
Cons: The day-time activities did not have a lot of variety. As the trip went forward people seemed to get lax about hand washing without Viking staff around to tell them to wash their hands (mainly in World Cafe and Explorers Lounge).
Recommended: Yes
Great trip! Trip of a lifetime. Port adventures were awesome!

Nice Cruise
December
Pros: Excellent Itinerary, Well-handled medical emergency (captain kept us informed without compromising the guest’s privacy), good crew on all levels, good excursions (both included and purchased)
Cons: Probably time for a refurbishment of the ship
Recommended: Yes
Having sailed on other Viking ocean ships, the Jupiter, by comparison, looks due for a refurbishment. For example, the sheer curtains in our stateroom were coming off track and, in public locations of the ship, furniture and carpets were looking a little worn. These small things didn’t affect the pleasure we took in our cruise but, in comparison to other ships, we did notice a difference. My guess is that Viking has this scheduled in the near future. As for the serious medical emergency mentioned above, this event required us to return to our last port and caused us to miss one of our next port of call. As soon as the need for returning to port was obvious, the captain made a ship wide announcement explaining the severity of the issue as well as his and his crew’s efforts to get us back on schedule. Clearly there was no other alternative as a helicopter rescue was not possible due to location and weather. The next morning he explained we would have to miss a port as well as the efforts the crew had made overnight to deliver the patient to the nearest medical facility and their efforts to catch up to our itinerary. Due to his quick and clear communication, we, as passengers, understood and were thankful for his appropriate decisions.

Cruising South America
November
Pros: Small ship sailing, included excursion in every port, included specialty restaurants
Cons:
Recommended: Yes
It was a perfect 18 day cruise, wonderful ports and excursions. The ship is beautiful, staterooms are roomy with plenty of closet & storage space. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Food was excellent. Enjoyed special seminars held daily in relation to the regions traveled with very knowledgeable scientists.

Viking is the best
November
Pros: Lovely ships, great crews, staterooms and bathrooms sparkling clean
Cons:
Recommended: Yes
Viking makes travel adventures easy. They attend to every need and make us feel welcome. I like to smaller ships where I can get to know some of the crew and they get to know me.

Simply outstanding!
September
Pros: Staff, ship, excursions, food, spa, gym, room service, shows
Cons: Small room, last on the list to book excursions, no binoculars
Recommended: Yes
We saw and learned so much in the two weeks on this beautiful ship. I struggled to think of cons. Other guests were a pleasure to get to know. Even our one rainy day was so much fun. Highly recommend!

Cruising the Med in Style!
August
Pros: Great food and service, excellent tours, perfect weather, first class spa
Cons: Most tour guides did not take into account the mobility-impaired guests.
Recommended: Yes
We had a lovely time, but noticed that mobility-impaired guests were at a distinct disadvantage during tours. As noted above, we had TWO guides during the entire trip who actually paid attention to folks who had a hard time keeping up. Tours specifically designed for those folks would be preferable. Would have loved more time in Monaco, Croatia and Montenegro.
